Mr & Mrs Hill

The setting for John and Hannah’s Alice in Wonderland themed wedding was the stunning Prestwold hall in Leicestershire, a venue I have been looking forward to working at and a place that did not disappoint, with it’s beautiful expanse of private ground, accommodating staff and wonderful food.

Hannah prepared in the morning with her bridesmaids and mother. The Prosecco was flowing and all were in high spirits. The bridesmaids had a few treats in store for their bride with her old, new, borrowed and blue. Hannah and John’s daughter Scarlet joined them and when all were ready they made their way to St Andrews Church at Prestwold for the ceremony.

The bridal procession was led by Scarlet in her amazing light-up shoes which illuminated her dress. She led the bridal party and her mother down the aisle to her father, who was very sweetly extremely nervous. In an intimate service they exchanged vows and made their pledges to each other, then withdrew from the church through a trail of confetti from friends and family.

The Alice in Wonderland theme blossomed following the ceremony. The ladies wore corsages on their wrists, and of course the men buttonholes, but Perfect Day Flowers had really pulled out all the stops adding cards and time pieces delicately crafted in the floral decorations. The Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts had made their mark too as guests were drinking Prosecco from tea cups and there were games of croquet on the lawn (no flamingos were harmed during this wedding). With giant chess and glorious sunshine it was fun and games for all, especially whichever of the guests mounted the horse statue setting off an alarm! Everyone sat to a sumptuous wedding breakfast and on each table there were intricate hand-crafted Alice themed centrepieces, all created by Hannah’s brother. The groom gave a touching speech about his brides’ family then far from tradition, the Mother of the Groom gave a speech in which she took great pleasure in thoroughly embarrassing her son and had everyone in the room in stitches, a true test of a strong relationship with your mother.

The fun continued throughout and as the evening guests arrived the celebrations were in full swing as the party carried into the evening with music, dancing and drinking. Thankfully no rabbits were late, no heads were chopped off and there was no unexplained growing or shrinking (that we know of!), but what we can be sure of is that a couple very much in love had a topsy-turvy day that ended happily, and may it stay that way for them forever more. Many happy returns to Mr & Mrs Hill.
