Mr & Mrs Baldasarra

This weekend’s blog starts a little different to most, after only meeting Jim and Jemma 11 days ago due to some random circumstances. It was a lovely unexpected opportunity to be out photographing a wedding this weekend, especially given the amazing venue in wonderful and quirky Digbeth (another place ticked of my wedding venue bucket list).

Bridal prep was held at the amazing Clayton Hotel in Birmingham’s city centre, the bride to be spending the morning with her mother and bridal party. It was really relaxed and super well planned, the perfect setting with a great view of the city through the hotel window. Some emergency Slide Away by Oasis and a vodka and coke helped steady the brides last minute nerves before being collected by the beautiful VW camper van. With the wedding and evening reception being held at The Old Library in Birmingham’s uber cool Custard Factory, a VW camper is definitely one of the better ways to arrive in style.

Jemma was led down the aisle by her two page boys and flower girl who were stealing all the points for cuteness overload. The ceremony was filled with lots of beaming smiles, quite a few tears and bags of happiness and beautiful music from The Rosebourne Duo. A special mention needs to be made for the wonderful registrars who led a really lovely and engaging ceremony, encouraging everyone to cheer and clap which really made the ceremony that bit more intimate and special.

After the ceremony and confetti, myself and the newlyweds went for a walk around Digbeth with the bridal and groom party for some photos. I could have spent hours taking photos round there, Digbeth is justified to be one of Birmingham’s coolest areas, the street art is second to none.

By the time the evening guests had finished arriving The Old Library was filled full of family and friends which tells you everything you need to know about Jemma and Jim, they are the loveliest of couples. The cake was cut (which was made by Jemma’s sister – and looked incredible! I saw her grimace when it was taken away to be cut) and the first dance was done, including a special appearance from Page boy Daniel and Flower girl Alexis who nearly stole the moment, It was SO sweet!

I am so happy I got this last-minute chance to document their amazing wedding day.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Baldassarra!
